What does the literature say about your topic? Are there any gaps in knowledge? You may use subheadings.
State your gap and rationale
Literature review research question
Please state your aim (1) and your objectives (between 2-4)
Methods
Study design: literature review – explain why (citing literature) this is the most suitable approach to answer your objectives.
Sources searched: for example, electronic databases such as Medline; PsycINFO, Embase, etc. Other sources searched.
Search strategy/key words
Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Data synthesis: How do you plan to synthesise/group your articles?

Ethics: Discuss the potential ethical implications of your literature review.
Results
Explain how you will structure this section.
Discussion
Explain what you will include in this section – you can include sections on limitations and future directions for research.
How your literature review findings may impact on policy and practice.
Conclusion
References
